10 Essential SEO Tools
Written by David Towers

10 Essential SEO ToolsToday I made a guest post entitled 10 Essential SEO Tools on Roger Byrne's website. I created the blog post as a response to Josh Chamber's article 10 Great SEO tools and resources.

I've decided to create a summary of the post here at Good Web Practices...

Here are my top 10 SEO tools:
  1. Advanced Web Ranking - Track search engine ranking positions.
  2. SEO Elite - Analyse competition and getting detailed backlink reports.
  3. Market Samurai - Research keywords and SEO competition.
  4. Google Analytics - Measure, monitor and mine keywords.
  5. Google trends - Check keyword trends between the UK and US.
  6. Google Webmaster Central - Detect crawl errors and checking pages with external links.
  7. SEOQuake - Check important website stats including e.g. PageRank, Crawl dates, Indexed pages, Yahoo SiteExplorer stats, Domain age, Whois info, keyword density, internal links and external links.
  8. SEOmoz PRO Linkscape toolbar - Display mozRank, mozTrust, Domain mozRank and Domain mozTrust.
  9. CopyScape - Check for duplicate content.
  10. Pidgin - To ensure I’m available to vote friends’ content on Digg and StumbleUpon etc.

Honourable mention: Woopra - It's not essential, but Woopra’s real time web stats are worth checking out!

Do you think I missed out any important tools? Please check out the full article on on.eti.me and leave your feedback there.

Running position tracking software locally is nuts! This should be outsourced.

We work with Sheer SEO. It is run by a guy in Israel and he does a great job. The service is crazy cheap and he is working to build it out.

Majority of the tools are used and can generate great benefits, and some of the listed tools will be checked to see how good they are. Of course, there is no denying what Copyscape can do for duplicate contents.

@Max Power
I'm not convinced about outsourcing SERP tracking for these reasons:

1. SERPs are geotargetted, often regardless of the TLD or whether you are signed in or not. Local businesses especially will be different in Israel than locally.

2. Local SERP tracking can be automated, so there's no strain on time. Yeah, I know it's against the big G's guidelines, but with IP cycling and random request times it puts neglible strain on their servers.

3. If you work with clients, you'll know the importance of well written, branded, and informative SERP reports. I prefer to stay completely in control of tracking and reporting SERPs because at the end of the month it's my reputation that is handed over to the client on a sheet of paper.

I think it's great that you found a way to cut time and resources on SERP tracking, but making sweeping statements like 'Running position tracking software locally is nuts! This should be outsourced' needs backing up with reasons.

That's why with my team we developed the SEOforia.

If you want to buy real estate, you will have to get the mortgage loans. Moreover, my father usually utilizes a college loan, which supposes to be the most fast.
