The Ultimate FireFox setup for SEOs
Written by David Towers

Firefox SEO Add-ons The beauty of FireFox is the fact that you can install extensions to adjust it to your needs... As an SEO, an SEO-tuned FireFox is an important tool in my job.

In this post I reveal which FireFox extensions I use.

SEO FireFox Extensions

If you install the following FireFox plugins, you will be able to understand the strength of each website you visit and you will be armed to submit content across your social networks.

  • SEObook SEO Toolbar - Pulls in lots of relevant SEO data to give a quick view of the competitive landscape.
  • SEOmoz Toolbar - Shows mozRank, mozTrust, Domain mozRank, Domain mozTrust and PageRank.
  • SEOquake Toolbar - Similar to SEObook SEO Toolbar but with a few additional and important tools.
  • Wordtracker SEO Blogger - Keyword research tool powered by Wordtracker.
  • TwitterFox - Post to multiple Twitter accounts in FireFox.
  • UrlbarExt - URL shortener. Supports Cligs API so you can track your click stats.
  • Firebug - Web dev tool for editing CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Cookie Swap - Swap cache in browser, especially useful for using multiple Google accounts.
  • Copy Plain Text - Strips out formatting of text when copied.
  • GA? - Shows which sites have Google Analytics installed
  • OnlyWire - Bookmark pages across over 20 bookmarking sites with 1 click.
  • StumbleUpon Toolbar - For submitting and stumbling content on StumbelUpon.
  • IE View - Opens current webpage in IE.
  • PDF Download - Allows you to do whatever you want with PDFs in FireFox.
  • Xmarks - Sync and Backup your FireFox bookmarks and passwords across multiple FireFox installations.

Other important SEO extensions for FireFox?

I have listed the FireFox add-ons I have installed and find useful in my work as an SEO.

Are there any FireFox extensions you find particularly useful?

I personally use Google Global a lot as it helps when I do searches to easily determine what competitors are doing on Google AdWords without having to worry about adding extra operators to the search string to search UK, USA, Australia etc. Read about it here >>

I use the seoquake bar, its great for getting a quick assessment of the competition and your own site. Not very good if you have a slow connection though as you will end up waiting awhile for the information to come through.

I have used quirk search status
http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/

it is a little bar that displays in the lower right corner and gives you PageRank, Alexa, and Compete numbers, (also SEOmoz)

I know these numbers are not everything but they are a guide to a sites popularity.

I might have to keep a couple of my plugins secret under my whitest of white hats, but here's a few great little Firefox addons I hope will be useful.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59

Switch user-agents to trick websites into thinking you're Google. None of your competitors are cloaking, are they? smilies/wink.gif

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3829

Monitor the HTTP headers in real time to check for 301 redirects, 302s, etc.

Get a little flag in the URL bar so you instantly know where a site is hosted. Again, very useful for getting the best out of geo-targeted campaigns.

View results from any country or even city. Very useful for geo-targeted SEO and PPC. This plugin has been a godsend from Redfly.

I’m normally not the kind of person to submit comments on people’s blogs, but for your article I simply needed to do it. I’ve been browsing in your site a lot recently and I’m super impressed, I think you might potentially emerge as a main voices for your niche. Not sure what your free time is like in life, but if you started commiting more time to writing on this site, I’d bet you would start receiving a bunch of traffic soon. With affiliate stuff, it could become a nice reserve income source. Just an idea to think about. Good luck!

NIce site! The whole idea sounds very interesting. I am a little confused on the whole process of how it all works just a little bit though.

This list is great! Half of my go to add-ons are in this list, the other half, well, I've got to go install them! I'm hoping they will work in the latest iteration of Firefox. I've had issues with some of the not loading. One that I would add is the Page Speed add-on which works inside of Firebug. Great work!

Thanks for this list. I have been looking for a really good SEO blog for a while. A lot of blogs cover SEO but are not dedicated to it. Going to check these out!
